How can we help you?

General FAQs

Q: Who is able to see the custom segments I’ve created?

A: The Proximic Activation Platform is designed to allow users within the same organization to use the same workspace. As a result, when you log into the platform, you will see all custom segments you have created as well as custom segments created by team members with the same email domain.

Q: How long does it take for a segment to become available in my DSP/SSP?

A: Custom segments created prior to 8pm ET on a business day will be processed and delivered to the selected platform(s) the following business day. Please note that it can take an additional 1-5 business days for the custom segment to surface in the downstream platform.

Q: What do you mean by ID-based and ID-less audiences?

A: Please find details below:

  • ID-based Audiences: Audiences that offer 1:1 targeting based on user identifiers, such as cookies, MAIDs, IFA and alt IDs (Ramp ID, UID2, etc.). Segments are mainly available for US targeting across desktop, mobile, CTV and Social campaigns. (Note: ID-based demographics are available outside the US for a handful of countries)
  • ID-less Predictive Audiences: Segments delivered based on privacy-friendly contextual signals without relying on user identifiers (e.g. - cookies, MAIDs, etc.) to reach a target audience. Rather than targeting users based on a user identifier, such as a mobile ID, Predictive Audiences enable advertisers to target content that is most likely to attract the target audience. Segments are available for targeting across desktop, mobile, CTV, audio podcast and YouTube campaigns.

Q: What happens after I activate/order a segment?

A: After placing an order in the Activation Platform, the custom segment build begins instantly. You can monitor the progress of the segment using the “Status” column on the Content or Audience homepage to monitor whether the segment has been delivered, is in progress or is still in draft. Note that there are several platforms that require Proximic by Comscore to create a PMP to push the custom segment to the selected platform(s). In this case, you will receive a deal ID from our team via email 2-3 business days after the custom segment has been marked as “delivered” in the Activation Platform.

Q: Is there a limit to the number of individual segment components I can include in a custom segment?

A: Yes, a custom segment can contain a maximum of 40 individual segment components. For example, you may include 40 TV shows or 40 unique search terms.

Q: I can’t find the custom segment I ordered in my DSP. What is my next step?

A: Please find details below:

  1. Check to see whether the Status of the segment is listed as “Delivered” or “Segment Active & Data Live” in the Activation Platform.
  2. If so, check the date it was delivered and please note that some downstream partners take an extra 1-5 business days to surface the segment once we have pushed it out to the platform.
  3. Check that you included the correct seat ID in the tile destination.
  4. Make sure to search for the exact segment name in your DSP.
  5. If you are pushing to a tile that requires a PMP, you should’ve received a notification in the UI and a separate email from an account manager with your deal ID. Check your inbox for an email with your deal ID information.
  6. After all steps above have been completed, reach out to ProximicAM@comscore.com with the name of the segment and the segment ID from the Proximic Activation Platform.

Q: Is the Segment ID listed in the Proximic Activation Platform the Segment ID that will surface in my DSP?

A: This varies by platform, with some leveraging Proximic by Comscore’s custom Segment ID and others applying a new Segment ID. As a best practice, we recommend searching for the segment name in the platform to easily locate it.

Q: Can I clone a custom segment?

A: Yes, you can clone a custom segment on the Audience tab by clicking on the double square icon next to the segment name.

Q: Can I edit a custom segment?

A: Yes, you can edit a custom segment by clicking on the segment name.

Q: How soon after editing a custom segment will the edits be live?

A: Generally, segment revisions will go live by the next day. The segment ID will not change upon editing the segment, so there is no need to update the targeting on the live campaign if the segment is already applied.

Q: What does the sizing estimate represent?

A: Please find details below:

  • Audience Tab – The Activation Platform provides a monthly size estimate. ID-based custom audiences provide estimated monthly user IDs for the custom segment and ID-less custom audiences provide estimated monthly impression avails for the custom segment.
  • Content Tab – The Platform provides a daily and weekly estimate of impression avails for the custom segment.

Q: How frequently are the custom audiences refreshed once the segment has been pushed to my DSP/SSP seat?

A: Custom audiences are refreshed every 45 days.
